Good stuff, take a look and then get some sleep. Fat Dynomite i was hoping that we'd see Fat dance like Napoleon did. The dubbing was good, and it moves the plot along quite nicely, for the old skool imagery.

Passion, Purpose and Goals
"Consider your passions in life. Consider your purpose. Do they currently align with one another? Are your long range and short range goals orientated toward aligning them in the future?" - Leadership Journal, Aaron
Whoa... no commentary needed. Still thinking... Passion, Purpose & Goals. Bingo... i think.

Soufiane Touzani: Freestyle
Do you know the name? i didn't either... but i do, and you will (know the name i mean!)
This kid is amazing. He's a freestyle soccer player, ie: his game is juggling and ball control. Tricks et al, these make you wonder how, how on earth he did, and frankly, how come we never see Beckham gettin' this done?
The first vid (a couple swear words in the soundtrack, which is really unfortunate because the rest of the sound track is mint!) is right here, man, this kid has ball control. Aside from the juggling tho, look at what he can do without the ball leaving the ground. You do NOT even need to be a soccer (football) fan to enjoy! just click and relax! Where is the Adidas logo, this kid has got to get dosh for marketing eh?
Next Video: Deel 2... check out that soundtrack... hardcore and foreign :) Any translations???

marketing Yao Ming
The marketing behind Yao Ming of the NBA has been pretty great. Here and Here, to name just a few.
Wow, how about the bevy of marketing opps for 7foot 8inch MingMing. Who, coincidentally, would be the tallest NBAer in history, if [IF... are you kidding] if he gets drafted.

Kenya Coffee Yet to Hit Its Peak Output
Kenya is likely somewhat concerned that their coffee industry has not reached its peak, yet this year. As you may likely know already, i will be arriving in Nairobi June 8th 2005... so, really, they should have no fear of their coffee output. In fact, maybe they should fear that they don't actually have enough in stock. Get roasting boys. My travel partners and i will consume vast ammounts of Kenyan AA... and then, for good measure, we will drink the same volumous amounts again, before packaging coffee to bring home. We may single handedly replenish their industry. Either way, we'll be on a 10 day caffeine high... good times, good times!
$9.6 billion interweb revenue
Kudo's to the interweb for raising its revenue to "$9.6 billion for all of 2004"
It's all here, at Drakeview Internet advertising growing fast.
But ouch: "For the first half of its web-enabled life, the Internet as an advertising venue was dismissed by advertisers and agencies as online advertising revenues trailed even billboards." Even billboards? gosh.

Beenox bought - Activision reigns
This is news! Not that i see myself as a news aggregate, nope, just the opposite... i see myself when i look in the mirror. Other than that, not so much.
This is news, Activision is an old school company that has re-invented itself, re-positioned itself all the while making games i play.
Besides that, Beenox is Canadian. So, Activision buying Beenox is worth commenting on. So go ahead, and comment.

Further NBA Jersey updates
Further to the sudden discussion about advertising on NBA jerseys, i'm back. i knew that Stern and Cuban had been quoted. i just wanted to get the actual quote before linking, kind of a journalistic... heh, just kidding, i went to get a drink before giving you this link to a news article from the 26th. Both great quotes: (click here for entire article)
"I don't doubt it will eventually happen, but at a price that recognizes that value," NBA commissioner David Stern said in the report. [read: it will cost a lot of money]
"If it were up to me, they [ads] would already be there," - Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks Owner. [Mark likes a lot of money]

NBA to create new revenue stream. WoOt!
The advertising industry continues to get further, into itself. Is that such a good thing? Yeah, of course.
IS there room in the NBA for new advertising revenues? Think NASCAR... David Sweet does NOT like the idea. Dime Mag is much more open minded, and merely invites your response (note that Dime is an NBA property). Me, hey, soccer does it, and it doesn't stop me from wearing the jerseys and enjoying the games. In fact, i would like to step up and provide some sales support for the NBA on this one! Maybe i should drop Stern a line again.
In fact, i might just say WoOt! which was recently rated the number three in the "Top Ten Favorite Words (Not in the Dictionary)" Thanks Boing Boing for the link. WoOt! will always be number one in my e-book. (who thinks of this stuff?)

Question: "He'd be a great undercover guy," De Lucca said.
Answer: Shaquille O'Neal as an undercover cop?
Burger King figured this out in 2002.

Where do i start
Where do i start? What do i say first... at first it was only a day, then two without a blog post. Now, we'll now it's been a little more than that. After a couple days without posting i avoid posting. I love posting, and i love that i might have something of interest to say, but, after waiting more than a week to comment, my post must be really good right? it must be... GREAT!
If it's not great, then why the long wait, was i lazy, a slacker? Do i just not care? What's with me?
I won't answer those questions in public forum, for anyone reading this, it might be painfully clear that i have larger issues, and need certified assistance with a sense of remorse. Freud is whacked.

Billboards in space
Outdoor advertising continues to grow, and the overall scope is increasing. i like that. FDA regulations, not so much when they get in the way of a good interstellar free market economy. Pitch Outdoor could use a flashy new division: Pitch Interstellar "Where everyone is pitching". Logo concepts anyone?

Anyway Mother Theresa
We were at a fundraiser in Calgary a little while ago to continue our support of GLA. One speaker recited a wonderful poem attributed to/ or made famous by Mother Theresa. Google has saved me the hard work generally necassary to find this poem... here it is ( i hope in its entirety):
People are often unreasonable,
illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind,
People may accuse you
of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be Kind anyway.
If you are successful,
you will win some false friends and
some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank,
people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building,
someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway
If you find serenity and happiness,
they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today,
people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have,
and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis.
it is between you and God;
It is never between you and them anyway.

Budget and confidence, today
You'll notice that so far today, i have not even mentioned the impending confidence vote in Canadian Parliament. (or maybe you hadn't noticed yet..) Well, here i am, linking to Monte Solberg's blog... thank you for giving words to my thoughts Monte, always a great read. And now, back to holding my breath, in disgust... that's mature right?
Piano Man continues to confound
In this day and age, how difficult do you think it would be to figuratively have your persona disapear, all the while continueing your presence among us? NO, i am not referring to UFO's or some other fantasy stretch of the imagination. Rather, i am referring to the Piano Man. Real life drama, without all the corporate sponsorships. ( i wonder if Roland has offered their sponsorship, for branding mentions of course).

Hair cuts and wireless devices
Amid text that is overbearingly large, i found this simple nugget. A wonderful form of connectedness (sp?) in one-to-one marketing... your computer to my wireless device (maybe my new phone, as soon as i buy it).
"I am in the Mall and am near the barber shop. My preferences in my mobile device state that I have not had my hair cut for 6 weeks and my schedule indicates that I do not have any appointments for several hours. The barber shop, whose schedule also indicates an opening, automatically schedules me for a haircut, notifies me that it has an opening for me at a specific time and sends me a coupon for $2.00 off if I reply within ten minutes. It guides me from where I am to where it is and when I am done, payment is made automatically by my mobile device." -Bill Austin
Yeah, it is time for a hair cut... the Moulin Rouge on 3rd Street Downtown Medicine Hat. See you there.

Pej Rants, and all read
i tend to steer clear of political debate online. Tho if i were to jump in, i'd vent on this or this (the latter being incredibly opportunistic). i'm not nearly as eloquent as i think, or nearly as scathing as i should be to wade into such waters. Being so self aware has it's upside, i'm more than happy to give you Pejman's rant on Redstate. With all these links, i can just link and sit back. WOW.
Seth writes books you should read
Seth Godin is a genius. He writes about purple cows
and stuff. This online digital book is a must read, if you are ever online (like now) you should read this book. It costs a couple dollars (paypal dollars), of which i get some (i like dosh). Buy this book... then i can afford to buy you coffee next time you are in town.
KNOCK KNOCK Seth Godin's Web Site ebook
i know my readers have websites too, just like i know that my readers want to have even better websites than they already have. Unless you know cool GIF animations... read this book. It'll work too!
So, as a round-up to the post... You are online, you do read, and you will buy this ebook!

Synetik, ergonomic and Canadian
Not sure how i might put either of these concept designs to use, but good on this company from Quebec to develop both of these functional ergonomic chair products. Given a large enough common-creative space, i might like to have several of the Stag-4's just wheeling around the room, for added creativity and comfort. Nerd alert... what? what?
Synetik Designs: "SYNETIK design est une jeune entreprise québécoise oeuvrant dans la conception et la fabrication de poste de travail, d'équipements et d'outillages ergonomiques." Tu parle francias?

Store Wars & the Citroen C4
Aonther seemingly irrelevant sunday. Or is it? Not long ago, in a super market not so far away...
A Star Wars spoof, with organic isle veggies et all.
i love those eggs. (C3 peanuts is pretty clever too) watch, and enjoy. (and no that i would have loved to comment on many other very clever moments in this vid, but they'd be spoilers, and i do not want our organic veggie overlords to spoil. No i don't.
Or, if you have less time, and absolutely NO interest in Star Wars, check out X-Bam. Their affectionate spoof of The Embassy's fantastic Citroen C4 advert is especially tasty. Mmmm.

The world organization Paris Club has written off over 1 billion in debt for Zambia. What a huge blessing that will be, i only pray that the government & people of Zambia are in a position to capitalize on this windfall.

On a side note, this is as good a time as any to let you know that i will be blogging from Nairobi again this summer. We leave for Nairobi in early June 2005. More info regarding that will follow within the next couple weeks.

Why isn't there an Eggroll Bell chain?
During the NBA season, and throughout the playoffs i read Lang Whitaker's SlamOnline Links... and this clip from FRI-DAY will show you why:
"Random thought I had last night while watching the games: What exactly is a Taco Bell? Is it a bell you ring when it's time to eat tacos? (I just asked our expert on Latino culture, Omar Mazariego, if he knew what a taco bell was, and he got all angry with me.) And do other cultures ring a bell when they eat a particular food? Why isn't there an Eggroll Bell chain?" Lang
See, some sportsmen get real deep, deep thoughts!

Matt dances... do you?
Do you dream of travelling? Have you ever wondered what it takes to travel the world? Besides cash or air miles, it takes character too, or maybe not... you decide.
I know where Matt is! Do you?
"Matt is a 28-year-old itinerant deadbeat..." (my kind of guy already) "February of 2003, he quit his job... to go walk the Earth, like Caine from Kung Fu. He realizes that Caine from Kung Fu probably wouldn't make a web site about walking the Earth, but he accepts that there are certain ways in which he and Caine differ." What else can i say... i would sorely love to meet this guy. To Dance even.

Pac Man is 25
Retro. Classic. Ground breaking. and really really fun. my appreciation (and insatiable addiction) to Pac Man began in 1980, the year the arcade cabinet (and later cocktail cabinet) was released in North America. Oh the stories i could tell.

Proofreaders leave us alone
Haha, this is exactly how i felt in college, so many years ago. Funny how the prof's disagreed...
"Proofreaders: Leave Us Alone
To all the anal proofreaders who keep asking us to hire you to proof this site and its newsletter. Stop. We are not hiring. In fact, we think the typos and grammatical oddities occasionally found here are part of the site's charm. Besides, what are you here for, the content or to compulsively over analyze (funny how the word anal is in the middle of that word) every letter of every word in every article? It's not like this is an annual report."

Look what i found today. It's just what i want in a phone, Windows mobile, a camera, Bluetooth & USB (the multi media player is a welcome bonus too). Email from GreenZap
i Just received an email from the President of GreenZap. Not a personal letter mind you, not yet anyways :) It was a *state of the Union* outlining the latest updates for the company as they prepare for their start this summer.
For all you folks who have joined the Zap, in part based on my review and comments, thanks!
A wonderful, pithy and brief comment for any folks who are on the fence regarding this:
"The (point is the) idea of rewarding people for becoming customers has been around and is used very frequently. The most sensible attitude [is] of reserved optimism or reserved skepticism, whichever best meets your personal needs."
Again, no pressure either way, obviously... merely an update, and further input.
Aparently they are setting up their offices in San Diego... one place i would still love to visit (i should have visited when Doug Flutie lived there)... note to the Pres at GreenZap, if my referal moneys get big enough, i might add them to my air miles and fly down for a visit. i like a good Zoo.
The following note is cut and paste from the *State of the Union* email i got direct from GreenZap... "We are working around the clock to deliver an outstanding service that we hope you all will enjoy. We look forward to rewarding each of you for helping us expand the GreenZap community. Kindest regards and continued success" That's a warm thought, now lets see them roll this company out to the public... We've all got some dosh we want to spend, i mean Zap!

Shoeshop marketing
" Shoeshop Marketing
by Ankesh Kothari
A shoeshop owner was dismayed when a competitor selling similar shoes opened next-door to him, displaying a large sign proclaiming:
"Best Deals"
Not long after he was horrified to find yet another competitor move in next-door, on the other side if his store. It's large sign was even more disturbing:
"Lowest Prices"
After his initial panic, and concern that he would be driven out of business, he looked for a way to turn the situation to his marketing advantage. Finally, an idea came to him. Next day, he proudly unveiled a new and huge sign over his front door. It read:
"Main Entrance"!"
As read on Marketing eYe
Absolutely brilliant, while it has the sound of a joke, it is a very good example of nimble wisdom... i like!

The Digerati
Wow, that was close. i almost stumbled into the great digital divide. (on an aside, visiting the Great Rift Valley this January was fantastic... that is some wide open space). You'll notice that very very recently i switched over to firefox for my web browsing utility. It's been great by the way. And now, i'm informed that i was extremely close to losing my relevance... wheew, that was close. How do you stand up to Seth Godin's list.
Daily trifecta complete
To complete the trifecta of NBA blog posts today, i suggest truer words have not been spoken in a long long time!
"In the meanwhile, diehard Lakers hater that I am, I'm loving it. It couldn't be happening to a nicer bunch of people."
i couldn't say that any better myself, it's like professorbainbridge read my mind.

Steve is MVP
This is about as close to home as it will likely get. i grew up playing b-ball on Vancouver Island, a year behind Steve Nash. There was always a real buzz for this Victoria kid who could play, or, "had game" as they say. During his years at Santa Clara, he kind of dropped of the map some. When he was drafted, there was some hype, but nothing heralding this day in his career. Another Canadian, Rick Fox got lots of ink, i can't say why... but Steve Nash, Steve was recognized today as the NBA's MVP... that makes a happy canuck, and i would guess, a lot more than that!!!
Congrats Steve... you've had an amazing year! keep it up.

Pacers in seven
Let's hear it for the Pacers extending their season by defeating the celtics in game seven. Did i say defeating, i meant trouncing... that sounds better.
We get to see even more of Reggie now, second round here they come. A disclaimer for folks, the pacers are not my favorite team, nor Reggie my favorite player... but dayum, can he shoot.

Don't Panic - Douglas Adams
"... find the answers to these burning questions: Why are we born? Why do we die? And why do we spend so much time in between wearing digital watches? read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. But remember . . . don’t panic, and don’t forget to bring a towel."
i read a book today. a very good book, short, dripping with british wit and very durable. Then, over a sublime evening meal a group of seven friends discussed at some length Douglas Adams creation. A book club of sorts, if you haven't joined one yet, i urge you to get at it!
"overall the film is a bit of a mess. A charming mess, maybe, but a mess all the same." - BBC News
And now, feeling as tho i have arrived at a party late, i must find the Hitchhiker in other versions and mediums. Just a few are listed here.

Work productivity in question
i spent today away from the computer, out in the city, interacting with people. In the sun, it was a great day. In case you don't feel the opportunity to unchain yourself from your computer... yet still want to put productivity in question; Visit addicting games (updated every friday). Be careful, they are addicting, as per the namesake. Thanks for the link Pej.

Wal-Mart Bows to Unions, Copies GM Success Formula.
You heard it here first. It's slanted and jaded, and good fun too.

Perception is reality
So, a mantra that i refer to quite often is "Perception is reality"... if i perceive or think one thing, even if it is false, that view will filter or cloud how i relate to you, or your company or your vision.
i mention this because, it appears to me that google has an odd opinion of my blog. Aside from the ever growing page rank they give me (which is greek if you don't care much about web stuffs, and geek if you do!) something else intrigues me. i've joined the ads by google program, they send me a little dosh when visitors such as yourselves click the links, neat. Here is the program description direct from the google website:
"What does 'Ads by Google' mean?
It means that Google uses search-based technologies to match advertisements and links to the content and context of web pages - so the ads you see are related to the information you are viewing."
google matches content (or their perception of content) to links that they feel will be contextual. Now take a look at the adwords down the right side of my page...
"How Do I Earn $430K ? -
$250-500k/yr Potential... -
Earn Thousands per Month... -
Need 35 People To Join... -
Axill.com - "
Those links, as of the time of this posting, are ALL referring to money? OK, that's all right. Dig a little deeper (go ahead, dig) and it appears that they are ALL affiliate programs, and most if not all of them are get rich quick, even in your sleep plans. ???
WOW... google's perception of me is, umm... well, i don't know exactly what to say. Is it because i've talked a bit about greenzap? i guess so, although this ain't no quick-rich program, merely a real viable way to help a market segment (online money transactions) get some competition, and get paid for it. Is that so weird?
Maybe i should talk more about politics, National or International, but that just frustrates me, and frankly, why would you really want to know what i think... about that i mean. While i have an opinion, it's hardly a learned one. So i'll stick to marketing, and random thoughts, mingled with just enough financial matters to confuse google's search-based tech. Good times.

Mozilla, page rank and M Night
Thank you for joining me here today. I have a couple things i need to say. My name is jace anderson, and i have been on the interweb for a really really long time... oh, yeah, and i still use explorer and OE too.
Maybe i need a support group, a network of friends who use the microsoft suite. Google didn't find any (friends that is)... tho that's not really suprising, it seems that most users (myself included) use the microsoft suite more out of convenience than choice and taste... most of us anyways. For the last few years my lazy status quo attitude regarding interfaces and web browsers has been a little more obvious, to suggestions of mozilla i've replied " i must have the Google Page Rank for work" (half-truth). It's worked for a couple years now, i've fended off the other converts... but the roar is increasing. I need page rank. My dismissal without further investigation is trite. A sickness really, but that is another blog entry entirely. until today. i got another note from a good friend... check this out, my crutch is broken... yeup, Google Page Rank is now a plug-in for Mozilla.
What next you ask? ok, ok... i'm in. i just finished watching Signs with my wife and the three cats... while i don't really want a spiffy tinfoil hat, it occurs to me that maybe, just maybe i've boarded up the windows and doors of my mind. ala no-more openness. or something. Either way i am downloading the entire suite next, i'll keep you posted. Gosh, that was a tacky comment.
Change is fun.

Retroactive interuptus
Good afternoon,
there were no blog posts over the weekend, that generally means i was away from the computer, orBloggus Interuptus, at least that is how Pej described his weekend away from the blogosphere... Pej is a pro blogger, someone i should attempt to model myself after. It is important to note that he notified his readers he *would* be away, and i am retroactivly notifying you *why* i was away... just cause.
i am back at it now, scouring the interweb for neat bits that you want, you just don't know it yet... and that is yet another reason why you visit my site every single day, sometimes twice daily... according to my traffic logs, there are a couple of you out there!
maybe there are pajamas in my future... i'll keep writing and linking, you just keep reading!!!
