Even Less

Even less blogging expected for tomorrow. We will be in Lethbridge visiting Renee's family for New Years.

/ You maybe thought my title "Even Less" meant this article from the NY Post, in reference to my last blog post? Nope, but it could, it really could.
"That's when Kobe went after Odom (his team-mate, and arguably the second best player on his team). In doing so, he kicked over the lights and a chair holding the TV monitor. Kobe's security force of two quickly intervened and separated the pair." Meh.

2 Game Suspension

Look... i have even less respect for him now than i did before. It continues to dwindle. My respect for Kobe, as a man, that is.

Garbo's last Days

Is life moving fast for you to? i'm sure it is. It sure is for me.
My parents have been closing out Garbo's Downtown (See logo here) all winter long. And now the time has come: i just finished my last day chipping in some retail support, the shop's last day is tomorrow.

Garbo's has been around for 11 years. Has been a real part of my life for 11 years. I plan on posting a history of sorts, in the New Year. I'd do it now but... alas... there is precious little time to blog. Chat soon.

Blogs Archived Forever

"If there's something you don't want to get back to somebody else, you shouldn't publish it because when one posts content on a blog, it's archived forever,"

Hehe, wow... Do you and i really need to be reminded of this?

i guess so. Blogging could come back to haunt some bloggers link via the National Post.

Basic Blog-Keeping

For starters: The Christmas gifts have been bought, so i'm no longer showing the "Top 100 Books" banner accross the top of my page. If you want to buy books online (and i know you do) use my Amazon link on the right hand column... that puts a couple dollars in my pocket every month. Offsets the hosting fee's for this site. Thanks!

Next up: I've removed the javascript clock i had on the page since forever... it was acting buggy and slow. We can't have that... i can't have that, and you can't have that.

There, i've swept up a little... blown the dust off some. Here comes the New Year.

hmmm...

Christmas Eve Review

Last nite was fantastic. As has been the case every year, we spent Christmas eve with my parents and my sister. Once the gifts had been given, and the food gorged... we sat down to a friendly, famiy game of Texas Hold-em. This was likely the first of a long line of Christmas eve traditions. (the tradition used to be watching Scrooged with Bill Murray, then it was Wallace & Gromit). Renee managed a full house (on the river) over my own mother. They were the last two standing (i was relegated to dealing some time before that). With that hand, Renee won the whole pot. Game over. Ahh, good times.
And now, Christmas breakfast... more family and even more good times. Blog later!

God bless...

Ready for Christmas

OK, i'm ready. Christmas... bring it.
Blogging will continue to be sporatic, as i'm sure your reading of my blog is also sporatic at this time. Famiy, food, shopping, family... family & Christ. Enjoy!

Keep an Eye

...On three countries in Africa: Zambia, South Africa & Kenya.
i have travelled with AIA several times this year, to both Zambia & Kenya. In 2006 we will be serving in all three African countries listed. South Africa for my first time. More on these missions, after the Christmas season.
The availability continues to challenge:

Food aid to be slashed in Zambia: "Last month, Zambia's president declared a national disaster as over a million Zambians face severe food shortages."

Hunger leads to deaths in Kenya: "reports come two days after UN agencies warned that 2.5 million Kenyans could face famine next year unless food aid pleas are met."

Don't Give Up (Africa)

"... how we treat the poor is a reflection of who we are as a people" said Keys.
Bono and Keys duet on Africa song. This link is from 05 December 2005. Kenya is one of the countries listed that are supported by this initiative. Go Kenya (and Zambia, and now South Africa too - More on that later)

Blog Carnival

i am excited to say that the text block added to the bottom right side of my site layout is installed... Now the Blog Carnival will provide us with up to date links to ALL the latest Carnivals.

Carnival of the Capitalists is over at Coyote Blog this week, take a read!

Countdown

Yes... the Countdown to Christmas continues. Aside from the celebration of Christ's birth (Jesus, being the reason for the season)i need to get some gift shopping done.
Ever feel overwhelmed? If so, odds are good that it happens during this trying season.
Words to the wise: Enjoy your time, the 25th will arrive whether you are ready or not... happy or not, joyful or not. So get happy, and get joyful... then when it arrives (as it does every year) you'll be ready... inside and out!

tick tock, tick tock.

Sleep or Game

I should be sleeping, or playing video games online (shout out to QoR). At the moment i am doing neither. I will be sans blog Saturday, as we are driving up to the Calgary Airport to pick up Brent and Tawm, who reside in Chiang Mai (and have blogged even less frequently than i have lately).

Kaizen over Coffee

I had a remarkable coffee conversation this afternoon. Wow. Good times...

As time permits, i may tell you more. Suffice it to say, the topic of Kaizen came up. Good times. (google the word kaizen for an explanation).

Java Jive

Can you blog TOO MUCH about caffeine? I didn't think so either.

Flurry

Was on the highway to and from Calgary today. The roads were fine, but the wind was tossing the snow over the road at such a clip that visibility became limited. You might say it was a flurry. No, not THAT fleury.
I liken my posting tonight to that, a kind a flurry. In a digital sense at least. Ok, i might be stretching. IF not a flurry, then what? Chicken feathers?

Blogging Inspiration

i got a note from a friend the other day. "you've inspired me..." it said. Wow.
It seems that, after reading my blog, he's decided to blog himself. Good timing... this *sort-of* takes the sting off of my extended hiatus from blogging. Almost.

So, here are a short-list of friends, and their blogs. (warning, some are NOT actively maintained... but if you've been reading around here lately, you already know what THAT can be like - birds chirping)

Jason Hopkins, Animator in Vancouver.

Aaron Gordon, Visionary Leadership. Aaron has JUST begun updating his blog again, a good sign.

Richard Hobson, label studios.

Rob & Melissa Hozack, to know them is to love them.

Brent & Tawm Rosendal, of Chiang Mai Thailand (and currently Texas). Brent is Renee's brother. And so, he's mine too... i couldn't be happier.

Paul and Jisca, Touring South East Asia.

I missed a couple, it is because i didn't have the links handy. You know who you are, resend them! Or post them in the comments section.

Coffee Seduces

Just so you know, that is a statement of surety, not a question. Coffee DOES seduce. As displayed by Scott Adams here.

i just got a very exciting email this evening. It seems that a good friend has just freshly roasted some imported coffee beans for me. I am to pick them up tomorrow. Ahhhhhhhh. Life IS good!

Latest COTC

The latest installment of the Carnival of the Capitalist's is up, here. Scroll down the linked page to see it. Thanks to Techronization for assembling and hosting the latest.

Absence Makes the Heart Grow

Not Blogging. At all. Still alive. Just not online... Much. Will post again soon.
