The Tour begins tomorrow... but the politics haven't stopped. Lance, after winning 7, has retired, and unless he just *shows-up* to ride, do not expect to see him this year. Jan Ullrich, past Tour winner & a five time runner up is ready to go. Go home that is... in a huge Tour doping scandal, he is one of many contenders sent home with a devastating mandate: provide evidence of his innocence. - Globe & Mail
Germany Advances
two saves... out of four. In the shoot out. Welcome to the round of 4, Germany.
Italy as well, after seeing the Ukraine miss their chances... the Azure pulled away quickly.

Cuban Hockey Fan
i might just have a fantastic reason to become a rabid hockey fan (this has nothing to do with Edmonton, thank goodness). i love the convergence of business and sport. i like Mark Cuban, rumored to be part of an ownership bid for the Pittsburgh Penguins! (childhood idol Dan Marino as an owner is a toss-in... too cool!)

Shatavadhani Tasking
Reading another book, i found a word that relates to one of my prior posts. In April of 2006 i used the term google-tasking to relate to our amped up lifestyle of multi-tasking. Seems, while the term is (still) mine, the concept is not.
Shatavadhani : One having the faculty of remembering or attending to a hundred things simultaneously.
i looked (and googled) the word, attempting to find a second source for the term... i did not find one. Since the first source is Gandhi himself, i'll boldly post the term. Taken from page 88 of Gandhi - My experiments with truth, published in 1957.
/that word just sounds good, doesn't it? i don't know, i do prefer google-tasking to Shatavadhani-tasking... both will work tho. Be sure to give credit where credit is due!

Go Oranje!

Mantra's with Guy Kawasaki
Guy Kawasaki is a must watch (and must read)... Here, he goes off about Mac, Windows, Mantra's and mission statements. Starting a business and why he turned down the CEO position of Yahoo, likely a two-billion profit... LOST. (note, it's all about priorities!)

Nirvana Round-Up
It's been about a week since my last Sport Nirvana post... time for a round-up.
Oranje is thru to the round of 16... next up, Portugal. World Cup action!
Miami took the NBA finals in 6 games, we saw, over the 6 games two distinct Maverick teams show up. While it would have been Riviting to see Cuban be awarded the trophy... not this time around. In fact, this finals prompted me to send my first email to the Jim Rome show, which i listen to on the FAN960.
NHL... Edmonton lost game 7... to some team from down south. No, i'm not bitter, quite the contrary... heh. :)

It's All about Trust
One of my many FANTASTIC clients has been, since the very beginning, LEON'S of Medicine Hat, Alberta. I love them, i enjoy working with them, and we have a great time developing creative concepts to accentuate our medium of choice: Outdoor Advertising, ala Pitch Outdoor Advertising Inc. (Pitch In)
Recently, i was challenged to generate a concept for LEON'S that visually spoke of their slogan "It's all about trust" in a way that would be ideal for our golf course locations. With the time invested, and the creative process collaborated... Dan Engel of Hideaway Studios shot the following pics, and generated the below ad. Remarkable job he did!

I love this ad! (tho, i am happily biased) this is one of our stronger visuals... ever, in the years i've been working with clients of Pitch Outdoor Advertising. These posters are currently in place at two golf courses in South East Alberta, and watch for these ads to be displayed throughout the City of Medicine Hat, summer 2006.

Newspaper Clipping

Click here to see the nifty online tool i used to make the above paper clipping, which is NOT real. Seriously. Make your own.
Dogs and Parks
i've made plans with a friend to go see the Mavericks play here in Medicine Hat next week. Hot dogs at the ball park are great!
Stopped into Sobeys to buy the tickets today... guess what? The ticket includes a coupon for a FREE dog at the park! Isn't that great? yeah, i think so too!
Thanks Sobeys...

So, following the topic of earthly bliss that my last post touched on: How about this time of year for casual or rabid sports fans.
Currently, my time and attention is being split somewhat poorly between:
World Cup Football (soccer) Go Oranje!
NBA Finals, Go Mavs!
NHL Hockey Finals, Ahhh... whatever! Heh... (save the emails, i do not Hate hockey)

Heroin Detox
???
i'm not sure why Google has posted Heroin Detox as the most relevant textual ad for this humble blog (look down the right hand column, at time of posting). i wonder if Google doesn't know more about you people than i do... hmmm
/ That is NOT why i've been absent from blogging recently, regardless of WHAT google tells you. (where is my tinfoil hat?)

Trading UP & DOWN

Pirate Versus Ninja
How does a Pirate vs. Ninja conversation start? i can't speak about all Pirate/Ninja conversations, but i will tell you how my *latest* P vs. N conversation started... (Yes, i've had more than one)
Meeting a good friend for coffee today, i arrived early at Starbucks. i brought along a notepad to get some work done while i waited (foolish). Little did i know that i'd have such a compelling converstation with the barrista. Starbucks Gal stated "There should be Pirate Coffee...". Heh (out of the blue), to which i replied "but then you'd need to offer Ninja Coffee... and who would win?" (yeah, i tried to put her on the spot, no dice, She was ready for this...)
She replied "Oh, the Pirate, of course... They can cheat..." etc etc etc, and the conversation went from there. Carried over 3 or 4 barristas... two other coffee house guests... and over half an hour. Good times, good times.
A quick check with google shows over 142,000 pages online focusing on this topic... add my blog post to the list.
So, weigh in on the topic, for the first time, or the hundredth... let me know : Who would win in a fight or duel between a Pirate and a Ninja? And why? (that is the best part of the question... heh)

Baby shopping
Timely do's and don'ts about shopping for an impending baby. Timely.
"During their child's first year, parents with an annual income of $72,600 or more will spend about $15,200 on baby. This includes everything from formula, diapers and toys, to medical care, according to the government's 2005 Expenditures on Children by Families report. By the time that child is six years old, the tab will run $92,280. Fact is, you can scrimp on certain products — while others you really should shell out big bucks for. Here are some dos and don'ts:" - StreetSideInvestor
Heh. Gulp...

What the World Needs
“Do not ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
