Rattlers win pre-season opener

While working today at CCL i got a call from my lovely wife Renee. She was out to score some major points... and she did!
She suggested that we take our now 60+ day old son to his first college basketball game... or a quarter of one as the case was. Who was i to do anything but what i did... i jumped at the offer... and off to the game we went.
Rattlers won by the way... great way to start the pre-season.

The Wagging Tail

"The Wagging Tale - Introduction

Hello Busy Business Person:

Welcome to The Wagging Tale. Fast facts and tips for busy business people. Story highlights and alternate views.

As consultants who write computer programs, we find ourselves constantly reading and scanning a wide variety of material. We read across many, many different industries because our clients are in many, many different industries. And we read across a wide range of topics from technology to business practices to emerging social trends because these things are useful in our work. In fact, we do this so much that we completely cut sports out of our reading. Now, while that might mean you don't want to invite us to your party it also means that you do want us at your water cooler and on your staff's desk.

We finally realized this voracious reading of a wide range of topics is of great interest to others. It is what has made our newspaper columns and television shows so interesting. And it is why our customers often call us for a tip or idea.

WHAT is The Wagging Tale?

This bulletin is a collection of emerging trends, breaking business stories, computer tips, security tips, an unreported angle on a popular story. All of this done in a concise, to the point, style with a wee bit of humour. Hey, learning should be fun.'

This sounds like my kind of e-zine. Coole enough in fact that i kind of wish i thought of it myself, alas... this isn't me. It IS LOCAL tho!
I have signed up. Want me to sign you up? (send me a request) i might anyways! You probably need it.
/i'm not actually involved with the Wagging Tale, merely an early adopter, and happy to be one. I can speak very highly of the writing AND the source... but i'll let him speak for himself! Sign up... :)

Geekfest

One of the many benefits of having era show up SOOOOO early is this: i am leaving for Geekfest in Calgary this afternoon. If Elijah had been born on or around his due date (5 days ago) i wouldn't have been leaving town. Now tho, the trek is on! WoOt!

Brent reports from Chiang Mai

Snippet of an email from Brent & Tawm. Brent (Renee's brother, my in-law) and his wife Tawm live in Chiang Mai (as mentioned previously). Worth sharing.

Right now everything seems to be ok in chiang mai, most of the action is
happening in bangkok. The military has taken over the country while the
prime minister was in America at the UN meetings. There has been a lot of
problems with the current gov't, they tried to blow up his car a few weeks
ago.
Our biggest concern is about what will happen with the next gov't and
what that means for us, so that is a big prayer request and next week i
have to go to the border to renew my visa, so that is anoter concern.
in regards to safety things... they are just telling
people to stay away from populated areas like malls and things for the next
little while until things get figured out. Will probably know more in the
next day or 2.

Chiang Mai & the Coup

UPDATE: More from Paul Lukacs. Excerpt: "The city of Chiang Mai, in the north, appears unaffected. I am in an internet cafe surrounded by the usual complement of teenagers playing video games. I don't think most of them know." - Courtesy of instapundit

For MORE of that great blogging commentary, from Thailand, read Paul Lukacs here!

I won't get too excited at this time, but i do look forward to Brent & Tawm, family who live in Chiang Mai to give me an update.

era Upkeep

Here is a pic that was on the camera memory... i don't know exactly when it was taken, some time between the last era pic post, and yesterday. Elijah is chillin' on our living room floor, and Prince (our second of three cats) is keeping watch. Lions & lambs, or in this case; striped cats & preemies. It's all good.

Taken yesterday, this picture strives to archive Elijah Reuben Anderson's first day sucking on his thumb. He found it, discarded it, and found it again... thus a new stage dawns. wOoT! Thems are some intense eyes huh?

/fell a little behind in the pic posting, but it's all good. Thanks for the reminders and encouragement... and when necessary, tough love!

Classic Construction buys Moose Lodge property

Operating from their current location for over 30 years, the Moose Lodge continue to be a valued member of Medicine Hat. As the City has grown, their location has become one of Medicine Hat’s most sought after pieces of real estate. Numerous developers and builders have wanted to buy this property, but only one builder’s offer made sense to the Moose Lodge. The builder was prepared to work with the Moose, ensuring that the Moose and their membership can continue to serve the community from their present location. The Medicine Hat Moose are excited to announce that they have agreed to sell their property to Classic Construction Ltd. This sale is a brand new beginning for the Moose, and Classic Construction is very happy to be a part of that.

A key part of the deal that Classic Construction negotiated ensures that the Moose Lodge will continue serving their members and customers throughout the end of 2007 in their current building without interruption to their business. If you’ve booked Moose facilities thru 2007, rest easy, the Moose will continue their high standard of customer service from their current location. Following 2007, the Moose will celebrate with their more than 2000 members in a brand new facility at the same location. Classic Construction Ltd is very excited to build this new facility as part of a larger residential development. With developments already underway in Northlands, Ranchlands & starting soon in Southlands this property rounds out Classics presence throughout the City.

The residential complex that Classic Construction will build on 2800 13th avenue is expected to pre sell very quickly in Medicine Hat’s booming residential market. Next to golf course and Co-op, this prime property is within walking distance to all amenities. Converting this land, the Moose Lodge could think of no builder better qualified than Classic Construction.

Elijahs' Rabbit

Today was pretty special, Elijah had his car seat test. Preemies are tested in their seat, to see how, or if, they can handle the sitting position. They do this test when they are *close* to discharging the baby... fingers crossed! :) Elijah Reuben Anderson did a bang up, smashingly good job of sitting in his car seat. He rocked it. Big time. Like he'd sat up in a seat before... it was that good. (We are considering endorsment offers right now, it's just overwhelming)

The day continued to get even more exciting, Elijah's rabbit got involved. We've had Elijah for 38 days now, and Elijah has had his blue rabbit for 38 days... so far. It was high time we got the bunny into some pictures... wouldn't you agree?

Enough of that, crazy rabbit, pics are for kids.

Sleeping one's even!
