300

Brutal & Beautiful. Artistic, stunning, and, dare i say it... priceless. If nothing else, this movie will likely polarize the audience (it was after all, R-rated, 18A in Canada). Love it or Hate it. I'll be watching it again, and again. Which is more than i can say for Sin City, Millers last graphic novel adapted to the screen. That was a movie i'm glad i saw, but not a movie i'll watch again.
In my humble opinion, i was very (very, very) right the other nite, when i said (even before seeing the movie) 300 "might be one of the best movies released in a very long time. Seriously. Frank Miller is that much the genius".

From opening, to close... the movie was riveting. Have you ever seen a better in-battle representation of the behemoth that was Phalanx? The art of war.

300 is an adaption of a graphic novel based on a true story. Read the Battle of Thermopylae on wikipedia.

Opening weekend was a blockbuster. 300 is now the 3rd highest grossing Opening Weekend of an R-rated movie, behind only Matrix reloaded & the Passion of the Christ.

The marketing of 300 was brilliant, and over the top. They've owned myspace.com for some time now with themes and previews etc. If you haven't gone to see 300 yet... consider it. And go.

I'm not surprised at all that it hit the top 3 in all time box office hits for an action movie. Even with it's mature themes it was a serious adrenaline rush!

I felt like I was 10 years old again, sitting in my room reading while huddled under the blankets on my bed with a flashlight. Reading of ancient armies clashing on the battlefield and trying to imagine those epic struggles. The visuals were surreal and contrasting. Vivid yet faint. It had all the qualities of a good flight of imagination. but I got to watch it unfold in front of me instead of inside my mind.

I have a funny feeling it did the same for a lot of other people as well.

So if you have not watched 300 yet, do it for the 10 year old in you! :P

I'm am seeing this on Sunday I hope.

I had never heard of Frank Miller before Sin City and it was the most captivating movie I have ever seen. Not the best, but certainly the most captivating, I was expecting a Bruce Willis Die hard type movie, but what I saw surprised me so much I forgot to eat my popcorn.

This looks to be even better, I love the cheesy honour and glory type storylines like Private Ryan, the battle of Britain, the Alamo and the Riders of Rohan.

I have only seen the comercial a few times, I havn't ever seen the comic, but I am pretty confident I am going to fall into the "love it" category

Alamo was good too, but this movie was amazing. For the story, the depiction, the action AND the artistic genius of Frank Miller, and the director for bringing it to like nothing else.
